In addition, we provide full service in Dutch, English and Arabic and work by appointment only.

How quickly can I expect a response?

We aim to respond to all messages within two business days. For urgent matters, you can reach us by phone for a faster response.

Is the first introductory call free?

Yes. The first introductory call is a phone call of up to 30 minutes and is free of charge and without obligation. In it we discuss your situation and needs and advise you on the most suitable approach and the associated costs. A substantive 60-minute advisory meeting is a paid service; the fee is listed on the pricing page.

Accounting

What does the administration service include?

We keep and manage your complete financial administration: from processing invoices, receipts and bank transactions to interim reports, the annual accounts and the filing documents for the Chamber of Commerce.

Can I transfer my existing bookkeeping to you?

Yes, we guide a careful transfer of your existing administration. We contact your current bookkeeper and ensure the transition runs smoothly without any data loss.

Which accounting software do you use?

For bookkeeping we work with AFAS Software, Visma eAccounting Pro, SnelStart Polaris, e-Boekhouden, Exact Online and Asperion, among others. Reports and annual accounts are prepared in Caseware, Speedbooks and OnView, tax returns in Nextens and Fiscaal-online, and payroll in Nmbrs, Loon and SalarFusion. We match the choice to your business.

How often will I receive financial reports?

We tailor the frequency to your needs. As standard, we provide quarterly reports, but monthly reporting is also possible. This way, you always have up-to-date insight into your financial position.

What is an annual account and why do I need one?

An annual account is an overview of your company's financial position over the past fiscal year. It is legally required for BVs and NVs, and is also requested by banks and investors.

Do you also handle payroll administration?

Yes, we handle the full payroll administration including processing pay slips, remitting payroll taxes to the Tax Administration and preparing annual statements.

What is the difference between an accounting firm and a registered accountant?

An accounting firm keeps the administration, prepares the annual accounts and handles tax returns and advice. In the Netherlands the title accountant (RA or AA) is protected by law; only a registered accountant may issue an audit or compilation report. JOUHAR EXPERTISE BUREAU is an accounting and advisory firm. If a statutory audit is required for your company, we discuss with you which registered accountant can perform it.

Can I submit my administration entirely digitally?

Yes. We work fully digitally: you scan or photograph receipts, invoices and other documents and send them to us. This saves time and keeps your administration accessible at all times.

Tax

When do I need to file my tax return?

The income tax return must be filed annually before 1 May. Corporate tax has a deadline of 5 months after the financial year. We keep track of all deadlines and ensure timely filing.

Can you help with correspondence from the Tax Administration?

Yes. We analyse the letter or assessment, advise you on its content and, where necessary, handle the response on your behalf. During a tax audit we support you from preparation to completion.

Do you also handle VAT returns?

Yes, we handle your periodic VAT returns (monthly, quarterly or annually), supplementary returns and advise on the correct VAT treatment of your domestic and cross-border transactions.

Which expenses can I deduct as an entrepreneur?

As an entrepreneur, you can deduct business expenses such as rent, inventory, transport, insurance and marketing costs. We advise you on which costs are deductible and how to optimise your tax position.

What is a provisional assessment?

A provisional assessment is an estimate by the Tax Administration of your tax due. We can submit a request for modification so the assessment better reflects your actual situation.

What happens if I file my tax return late?

If you still have not filed after the Tax Administration’s reminder and formal notice (aanmaning), a late-filing penalty follows. For the income tax return this penalty is €469 when your return arrives after the deadline in the formal notice (10 working days); if you file late repeatedly, it can rise to €6,709 (Tax Administration amounts, as at October 2026). Higher amounts apply to corporate income tax. We monitor your deadlines and request an extension in good time where needed.

What is the difference between income tax and corporate tax?

Income tax applies to individuals and sole proprietorships, while corporate tax applies to legal entities such as BVs. The rates and rules differ. We advise you on which structure is most tax-efficient.

Is tax optimisation legal?

Yes, within the boundaries of the law, it is entirely legal to optimise your tax burden. We always look for legitimate ways to improve your tax position, such as utilising available deductions and tax facilities.

Advisory

What kind of advice do you offer?

We advise on business structures, growth strategies, investment decisions, financial planning, cash flow forecasts, business acquisitions and feasibility analyses. Our advice is always practical and focused on concrete steps.

Can you help with buying or selling a business?

Yes, we guide you through the entire process of business acquisition or sale. From the initial valuation and due diligence to negotiations and financial settlement.

Should I set up a BV or remain a sole proprietorship?

There is no fixed tipping point. Whether a BV is more tax-efficient than a sole proprietorship depends on your profit, the customary salary you must pay yourself as director-shareholder, the entrepreneur allowances you use as a sole proprietor, the share of profit you leave in the business, your liability risk and the additional costs of a BV, such as the annual accounts, the filing with the Chamber of Commerce and the corporate income tax return. We calculate both options for your situation and advise on the basis of that comparison.

How long does an advisory process take?

This varies per topic. Simple advice can be delivered within a week, while complex trajectories such as acquisitions may take several months. We always provide an estimate of the timeline in advance.

What is a due diligence investigation?

A due diligence is a thorough investigation into the financial, tax and legal position of a company, usually conducted during an acquisition. It gives you insight into the actual value and risks of the business.

Can you help with a business plan?

Yes, we help you prepare a professional business plan including financial forecasts. You can use this plan for financing applications, subsidies or as an internal roadmap for your business.

Financing & plans

What does financial intermediation involve?

We analyse your financial needs, compare offers from various banks and financial institutions and guide you through the entire application process. You benefit from our network and negotiating position.

For which types of financing can you mediate?

We mediate for business credits, corporate loans, mortgage financing for business premises, leasing, factoring and other financing forms that suit your situation.

What does financial intermediation cost?

You pay an agreed fee for our guidance: a fixed amount for the financing memorandum and the support of the application, or an hourly rate, as listed on the pricing page. In some cases we also receive a fee from the lender. We tell you this in advance, and in that case your own costs are lower or waived. Our advice is independent of that fee: we compare lenders on terms and suitability, and we cannot guarantee financing or acceptance.

Which documents do I need for a financing application?

Typically, we require your annual accounts for the past three years, recent interim figures, a forecast, your business plan and an overview of existing financing. We help you compile the dossier.

How long does a financing application take?

The processing time varies by type of financing and provider. On average, the process takes four to eight weeks. We ensure a complete dossier to keep the processing time as short as possible.

Can you also help with refinancing?

Yes, we analyse your current financing structure and investigate whether refinancing could be more advantageous. This can result in lower interest costs, better conditions or more financial room.

Translation

In which languages do you translate?

We offer professional translations in Dutch, English and Arabic. All combinations between these three languages are possible.

Are the translations suitable for official use?

That depends on the requirements of the receiving body. We distinguish three forms. A standard professional translation: suitable for business use and for bodies that do not require certification. A sworn translation: produced and signed by a translator listed in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Wbtv); required by, among others, courts, the IND and many foreign authorities. Legalisation or apostille: an additional stamp from the court, and sometimes from an embassy or consulate, on the sworn translation or the source document for use abroad. Which form is accepted is always decided by the receiving body; we cannot guarantee universal acceptance. Check this in advance and we will discuss the route, the costs and the turnaround time.

Which documents can you translate?

We translate deeds, diplomas, certificates, contracts, legal documents, business correspondence, annual reports, government and immigration documents and technical reports, among others.

How long does a translation take?

The turnaround time depends on the volume and complexity of the document. Standard translations are delivered within three to five business days. Shorter deadlines are possible for urgent requests.

Do you provide sworn translations?

Our own translations are professional, non-sworn translations. If your document requires a sworn translation, we discuss with you in advance which route is needed and what costs and turnaround time are involved. If legalisation or an apostille is also required, we explain the order in which to arrange this.

How are translation costs calculated?

Costs are calculated based on the number of words, the language combination and the complexity of the text. You always receive a no-obligation quotation in advance so you know exactly what to expect.
